Investors in People Platinum Accreditation

Post by Mearns & Company in News

Mearns & Company has been awarded Investors in People Platinum accreditation for our commitment to staff development, customer service and continuous improvement.

We were the second financial services firm in Scotland to be awarded Investors in People Platinum accreditation and the fourth across the UK.

We were awarded the accreditation for our commitment to staff development, and a company culture that empowers our employees and fosters a ‘client comes first’ ethos. We also have an innovative continuous improvement and performance management strategy, where corporate objectives are linked directly to each individual.

In December 2024 Mearns & Company underwent a full review against the Investors in People framework, and we were delighted to be re-accredited with Platinum status. The Platinum Accreditation is the highest accolade that can be achieved against the Investors in People Standard and is currently held by only 1% of IIP accredited organisations.

Catherine Bell, Managing Director of Mearns & Company said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been re-accredited with Investors in People Platinum accreditation. Since our Investors in People journey started in 2014, we have worked hard to continually improve by implementing all of the recommendations that our Investors in People advisers have made to us. Our company values of treating people fairly, striving for excellence and making a difference, underpin our culture at Mearns & Company and align well with the aims of the Investors in People framework. We believe that this external recognition that we are successfully leading the way in our people practices, will give reassurance to our current and future clients, that we are committed to excellence and delivering outstanding results.”

IIP Specialist Ruth Kelling, who carried out the re-accreditation review in 2024, said in her report: ‘ I’ve never seen an organisation whose people practices are so aligned to support business performance. I found a staff compliment who are hugely committed to the business and the services they provide to clients. They described their current experience with enthusiasm and passion. Ownership and empowerment are deeply embedded and lead to innovation and seeking out new and better ways of supporting clients. Performance is co-curated rather than managed, with leaders and managers acting as enablers to help people strive for high performance. There is a strong team focus and a collaborative approach to solution seeking, with the client experience at the centre. This too is driven by your values as your people seek to embody ‘Treating people fairly, ‘Striving for excellence, ‘Making a difference. The impact of this is seen in your excellent client feedback.”
