Michelle Mielnik, Office Manager at Mearns & Company, answers some questions about her career to date and life in general.

What was your route to Mearns & Company?

I joined the team in July 2016 as Executive Assistant to the Directors.  It was a newly created role and an amazing opportunity to help to transform the Directors daily working lives.  I progressed to Business Support Team Leader in 2019 and then to Office Manager in 2020.

What do you think is the best perk about working for Mearns & Company?

There are lots, but my favourite is attending industry award ceremonies.  Did I mention Mearns & Company are multi award winning? 😉

What was your first job?

I got my first job at 10, bagging potatoes into 3lb and 5lb bags at the local corner shop on a Saturday morning.  My £1 wage stretched far in the 80’s!

What has been your best purchase or investment?

My house is definitely my best purchase and investment.

What has been your worst purchase or investment?

I am a serial shopper and a sucker for a gadget, so I have lots of worst purchases.  Anyone for an Amstrad emailer phone, HD DVDs or mini disc player?

What would you do if you won the lottery?

The first thing that I would do is buy an Audi R8, the second thing that I would do is buy my own racetrack.  Actually, the very first thing I’d need to do is to get advice from a Mearns Financial Planner to make sure I didn’t blow it in 6 months! (I’m a spender, not a saver…)

What was the last picture you took?

The last picture I took was a selfie of me and my husband wearing our DAFC bobble hats – we rocked that look!
